Stephen’s journey continues as he leaves Kosovo behind, heading south toward North Macedonia along a scenic route lined with mountains and valleys. After a smooth border crossing, he sets his sights on Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, a city rich in cultural and historical significance, as well as the birthplace of Mother Theresa.
In Skopje, Stephen spends the night at a guesthouse inside the Bigorski Monastery, dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Nestled in the hills outside the city, this historic monastery is famous for its wooden carved iconostasis and beautiful frescoes. Stephen spends the rest of the day exploring the monastery, marveling at its architectural beauty and soaking in the peaceful environment.
The next morning, after a restful night, Stephen hits the road again, heading toward Meteora in Greece, about 200 kilometers away. He decides to stick to the main roads for a more efficient journey. Upon reaching the Greek border, he’s pleasantly surprised to be waved through quickly, even bypassing the line thanks to his motorbike!
After over five hours of driving, Stephen finally arrives at a campsite in Meteora, where he’ll spend the night. There, he befriends a fellow biker, and the two decide to explore Meteora together the next day, admiring the stunning rock formations and medieval monasteries perched atop them. After enjoying lunch together, the two part ways, and Stephen sets off on the next chapter of his adventure.
