After his lengthy stay in Pakistan, we catch up with Stephen as he bids farewell to the Sisters and continues his journey toward India. With the struggles of obtaining his Indian visa finally behind him, Stephen approaches the border, hoping for a smooth crossing. Fortunately, the process is as easy as he had hoped, and soon he is on his way to find lunch.
While having lunch, Stephen befriends two Indian men who quickly introduce him to their friends. They warmly invite Stephen to their Christmas celebrations that evening, an invitation he happily accepts. As night falls, Stephen joins in the festivities, experiencing the joyous atmosphere of Christmas in India. People of all ages gather to sing carols from house to house, while fireworks light up the sky, creating an unforgettable celebration.
The next day, Stephen leaves Amritsar and embarks on a five-hour journey to Chandigarh. There, he visits the Little Flower Primary School, where he is introduced to the students and given a warm welcome during the morning ceremony. Stephen then meets the school’s principal, Sister Rose, who explains that the school provides education for underprivileged children from poor economic backgrounds.
After touring the school, the Sisters take Stephen to visit some of the students’ families living in the slums. He sees firsthand the difficult conditions they endure, worsened by the risk of winter flooding. Despite their hardships, the families greet him with warmth and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on Stephen.
Later that day, he visits the Chandigarh Rock Garden, an extraordinary space built entirely from industrial waste, home materials, and discarded items. The creativity and resilience behind the project leave him inspired.
The following day, Stephen rides to New Delhi, where he reunites with Tarun, an old acquaintance he had met in Iran. Together, they explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, marking another memorable chapter in Stephen’s journey.
